MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Mid-South Gifted Academy is celebrating the opening of its new middle and high school building - the School of Innovation and Design.
It’s located in the heart of Collierville, just down the road from the historic town square on South Center Street.
The academy held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday. School leaders said it is the only full-time school specifically for gifted and academically advanced students in the Greater Memphis area.
“This has been a multi-million-dollar investment to the town of Collierville,” said MSGA Head of School and co-founder Jessica White. “We love Collierville. And it's been just an honor to build this space here and continue to serve the community and offer other options for the Mid-South area.”
MSGA leaders said one feature is a cutting-edge IDEA lab, designed to “foster innovation, design, entrepreneurship, and action.” Students can turn their ideas into tangible products and business ventures. There’s also a science lab that leaders said will be a “game-changer,” allowing students to get a deeper understanding of the world around them.
They're having an open house Thursday, Nov. 2. Parents, educators, and prospective students are invited to schedule a tour by going to midsouthgiftedacademy.com.
