MSCS superintendent appoints Dr. Lori Phillips to new position of executive director of partnerships and development

Dr. Lori Phillips was named as new Executive Director of Partnerships and Development.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Dr. Lori Phillips has been named as the new executive director of the newly appointed Office of Partnerships at Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS), as announced by MSCS in a press release on Thursday afternoon.

Phillips, who currently serves as Chief of Student, Family and Community Affairs for MSCS, was selected to the new position by Superintendent Dr. Marie N. Feagins.

“Dr. Phillips' extensive experience and deep-rooted commitment to community engagement make her the ideal choice to lead our Office of Partnerships,” said Feagins. “With her forward-thinking vision, we will strengthen our relationships with the business community and expand our network of partnerships for the benefit of our students and families.”

The new Office of Partnerships will work with the schools within the district to ensure that they establish at least one business partner, with the goal of "enhancing" educational opportunities and support for students  in efforts with local businesses, according to MSCS.

Originally from Memphis, Phillips has a bachelor's degree in Mass Communication with double minors in Public Relations and Journalism from Mississippi Valley State University, as well as a master's degree in in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Adult Leadership and a Doctor of Education degree in Adult Leadership from the University of Memphis.

"Dr. Phillips’ commitment to education and community service is evident in her ongoing efforts to enhance schools, support families, and foster positivity through her innovative leadership," states the press release.
