MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Some loved ones of high school graduates at Whitehaven High School are upset, saying on social media they were not allowed inside once the ceremony transitioned Saturday morning.
The graduation, which is usually in the school’s outdoor stadium, had to transition inside when the weather-related changes occurred. When this happened, they weren’t allowed inside even though they had tickets.
One video was posted to Facebook of what appears to be attendees trying to enter but being denied.
Here's what we do know — the school did have a contingency plan in case of bad weather during the outside ceremony.
With inside accommodations having less space compared to the outside stadium, graduates were reportedly given three pink tickets and seven white tickets to give out as they chose.
In the case of a weather event, those with the pink tickets were reportedly allowed inside. The ceremony was also live-streamed online.
ABC24 reached out to MSCS, but was told that they are not giving a statement as of press time.
