Special assistant to MSCS superintendent Feagins resigns

Camalyn Turner started her role as special assistant in June 2024.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The special assistant to Memphis-Shelby County Schools superintendent Marie Feagins resigned from her role.

In an email obtained by ABC24, Camalyn Turner announced her resignation from the position and said it, "comes with a mix of emotions, as I reflect on the invaluable experiences I've gained during my time here."

Turner's email said that her resignation will be effective Oct. 22, 2024.

Turner started in the role in June, which was supposed to serve as a liaison between the superintendents office and district departments, with her role assisting in developing and implementing education programs and provide strategy for effective communications around district policies, goals and objectives, according to the announcement of her hiring.

"I want to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for the partnership and collegial spirit that each of you has shown throughout my tenure," the email reads.

Turner had previously served as special assistant to the superintendent of Atlanta Public Schools and later as executive director of school support.

MSCS officials and Turner did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
