MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The University of Memphis ranked the highest in the state of Tennessee for student experience and social mobility, according to a recent Wall Street Journal/College Pulse project that surveyed verified college students and recent graduates.

U of M ranks 43rd in student experience, being the only university in Tennessee to break into the top 50. In the social mobility category, the university came in 98th place on that list.

The WSJ/College Pulse 2024 Best Colleges in the U.S. ranking rated the top 400 universities in the country. The ranking came out of one of the largest ever independent surveys, which was developed and executed in collaboration with the Wall Street Journal, College Pulse and Statista.

“Ascend, as it was envisioned, provides a roadmap for UofM student success as we prepare them for the workforce and graduate education,” said U of M President, Bill Hardgrave. “In addition to the rigorous academics the UofM offers, it is the soft skills and life skills that, when combined, produce mature and capable graduates who are ready for the next phase of their lives.”
