Baptist Women's Health celebrates survivors at ‘Pink On and Groove On’ party

Every year, about 240,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer, making it the most common cancer in women in the United States.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Friday, Baptist Women’s Health Center honored survivors at the annual ‘Pink On and Groove On’ party.

Every year, about 240,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer, making it the most common cancer in women in the United States. That's why doctors say getting tested is so important to make sure to catch it early.

Survivors say, if you are one of the 240,000 women, you are not alone.

“It is important to have support 'cause a lot of people don't have support or they think they don't have support,” said Queen Cunningham, Ms. D’s Wings co-owner. “So we just like to bring awareness that even if you are alone with no family, no one, we are out here to you know, have support."

Baptist has a mobile unit that goes out into the community and offers mammograms to women who might not be able to afford it otherwise.

Women can call 901-227-PINK or visit baptistpink.org to find out if they qualify for a grant-funded mammogram and to schedule an appointment.
