MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Mississippi is putting a hold on elective surgeries that require hospitalization statewide.
That word came Friday morning from Mississippi State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs.
In a tweet Friday, Dobbs said, “9.8% of COVID cases end up in the hospital. MS ICU's full and many hospitalizations on the way. Beginning next Tues elective surgeries that require hospitalization must be delayed – statewide.”
Mississippi announced 2,327 new COVID-19 cases and 41 new deaths Friday, for a total of 175,282 cases and 4,124 deaths in the state.
