Two Memphis police officers are facing felony drug charges after getting busted during an undercover sting.
Terrion Bryson and Kevin Coleman are charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture, delivery and sell, along with criminal attempt felony and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
According to a police affidavit, The Memphis Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit received information in February that officers Bryson and Coleman were stealing money and drugs during traffic stops while on duty.
Undercover agents were put on the case by MPD.
An undercover officer was pulled over twice by Bryson and Coleman. Both times, the two officers stole money from the undercover officer.
On April 5, Bryson contacted the undercover officer, telling him that he would help make sure that his shipment of drugs would make it into Memphis.
On April 11, Bryson told the undercover officer that he would need his partner’s help to protect the drugs from being seized. Bryson told him that they would need “10,000 to go through with the deal.
While negotiating with the undercover officer, Coleman threatened to harm his family if the drug deal was a set up.
On April 12, the three met again. Bryson and Coleman agreed to protect 2.5 kilograms of heroin being smuggled into Memphis for $9,000. The officers wanted half up front, the other half they would get once the drugs were safely in Memphis.
According to the affidavit, later in the day on the 12th, Bryson was off-duty, Coleman was on-duty and driving an MPD squad car when they met the undercover officer, who they thought had the shipment of heroin. Bryson and Coleman escorted the undercover officer to a storage unit on Millbranch where they were given the last half of their money.
The two officers left and went to a location on E. Raines Road where they were arrested.
They’re both being held in the Shelby County Jail on a $1 million bond.
