MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – There is now a $26,000 Crime Stoppers reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who killed well-known community leader Glenn Cofield.
Cofield was gunned down Friday night as he left a fundraiser. It happened in a parking lot at the corner of Poplar and East Parkway where many of the people who attended the event had parked.
Crime Stoppers hopes the $26,000 reward will help catch the killer. $25,0000 came from private donations, the other $1,000 from Crime Stoppers.
“I would ask anyone who has any information no matter how trivial it is. It could be that little piece of information that enables the MPD to move forward,” said Crime Stoppers Executive Director Buddy Chapman.
The head of Crime Stoppers is pleading with the public to call its hotline if you know anything about the murder of Cofield. Police have only said the suspect left the scene in a dark-colored car.
The 57-year-old was a well-known community leader, volunteering with agencies like JIFF, which focuses on juvenile interventions. That’s how JIFF Director Richard Graham met him.
“He was just a guy always looking to help. That’s the best way I could describe Glenn, always wanting to know what he could to do to help,” said Graham.
Graham wants the killers caught ASAP. “The sooner they can catch them, the better.”
If you have any information about the murder, call 901-528-CASH.
