MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Around $4,000 of goods were recovered after being stolen from a train robbery and a man was detained in connection to this robbery, according to Shelby County court records.
Memphis Police responded to a "prowler call" where someone told police that people were removing property from a train across from 3650 Gray on May, 18, according to an affidavit.
The affidavit states that officers saw men on the tracks walking with boxes while the train was still on the scene.
These men left in different directions once they saw police, according to the affidavit. Officers saw one of the men on the railroad and identified him as Aaron Slepicka, according to the affidavit.
The affidavit also stated that he was no longer carrying the box he was seen on the railroad with. Then, officers found 10 boxes of Wilson golf clubs — valued at $2,000 — as well as two Torx paper towel dispensers ($50 a piece) and 11 boxes of LCM chairs that were valued at $2,200.
Officers found a black bag with the boxes that contained bolt cutters, according to the affidavit.
A man named Christopher Wolverton was also taken into custody, according to the Memphis Police Department.
CSX railroad had to stop traffic on the tracks in order for officers to safely investigate the burglary and find the stolen property, according to the affidavit.
Investigators said they talked with Slepicka and that he waived his Miranda rights to admit he took a box of golf clubs from the train, according to MPD.
