MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is facing charges after an accidental shooting in Westwood left a 14-year-old injured on July 1.
The Memphis Police Department responded to an aggravated assault around 5:15 p.m. in the 800 block Pawnee Ave.
Officers said they saw a 14-year-old teen sitting in the living room with a gunshot wound to the left side of his face.
The suspect, Bradley Smith, told police he thought the safety to his firearm was on and pulled the gun out of his hoodie, causing him to accidentally pull the trigger and shoot one round.
The bullet grazed the 14-year-old on the left side of his face, causing a gunshot wound that went through his left cheek and behind his left ear, according to MPD.
Smith, 18, was taken into custody and taken from the scene. On Tuesday, police said he has been charged with aggravated assault.
