There’s a renewed push for lawmakers to protect the environment. Several people gathered Thursday at the Overton Park Greensward to protest the rolling back of environmental protections like clean car standards.
They’re also concerned about budgets cuts to Environmental Protection Agency.
Demonstrators say protecting the environment is a moral obligation we all share.
“Eventually we’re going to die and the generations behind us will inherit this earth. Why would we leave them with a compromised earth where they’re living in squalor pretty much?” asked Allistar Bryant.
Protesters pointed out that Senators Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander supported the standards back in 2013, and they are calling on the Senators to oppose any pressure to undo them.
