MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) — Tuesday the Memphis City Council approved the Memphis 3.0 Comprehensive Plan after months of public debate and delay.
Memphis 3.0 was designed to build up the Bluff City from the inside. There have been concerns it excludes several communities.
The plan has been controversial since it was introduced and some council members felt forced to vote Tuesday night despite others expressing the ability to make changes even after accepting the plan.
All council members agree a plan like this is needed but wanted more advice from city attorney Allan Wade, absent for the meeting, before plan approval. Full acceptance of Memphis 3.0 will not be final until the next meeting in two weeks.
