MADISON COUNTY, Arkansas — Multiple local fire departments were called to assist with a large brush fire in Madison County on Oct. 5.

The Witter-Aurora Fire Department, the Marble Volunteer Fire Department, the Kingston Fire Department, and the Huntsville Fire Department were called to handle the fire, according to a Facebook post.

The post, made by the Huntsville Fire Department, shared that the "very large brush fire" extended into trees and brush, as well as nearby farm equipment and haybales.

"Crews were spread thin in all directions working to contain the reach of the fire," the post said, adding that the Arkansas Forestry Division also responded to finish controlling the scene.

The Huntsville Fire Department said that in total, more than 40 acres burned in the fire.

The department reminded the public that Madison County is currently under a burn ban, along with many other Arkansas counties.
