Arkansas State Police seize 7,000 fentanyl pills and other drugs during traffic stop

The driver and passenger told police they were traveling from Riverside, Calif., to Memphis, Tenn.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Arkansas State Police (ASP) seized around 7,000 fentanyl pills, codeine syrup and illegal marijuana during a traffic stop on I-40. 

ASP directed a traffic stop on a 2024 White Nissan Altima near the 3-mile marker on I-40 eastbound on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at around 2 p.m., according to the Arkansas Department of Public Safety.

During a search of the car, troopers discovered around 7,000 fentanyl pills, 18 pints of promethazine/codeine syrup and illegal marijuana.

The driver and the passenger of the car were taken into custody. 

The two individuals told investigators they were traveling from Riverside, Calif., and were heading to Memphis, Tenn.
