'Looking ahead to better days' | 'Bluff City Christmas Parade' held in Hickory Hill

Hundreds showed up in the Hickory Hill neighborhood to see marching bands; skating dancers and, of course, Santa Clause himself.

MEMPHIS, Tenn — A memorable Christmas experience for the citizens of Hickory Hill was offered on Saturday at the "Bluff City Christmas Parade."

Hundreds of people showed up at the annual event to see marching bands; skating dancers and, of course, Santa Clause riding in the back of a Corvette.

Organizers said this event was put together to help display "a different part" of Hickory Hill as well to demonstrate how different organizations can collaborate to create a fun safe free event for all to enjoy.

Dr. Telisa Franklin founded "Bluff City Christmas," which is in its third year.

"We're going to look ahead for the better days," Franklin said. "That's what we're going to do. Having this parade is going to let the young people and the old people right here in Hickory Hill know that somebody cares for them and that we believe in them"
