Memphis police this afternoon positively identified a body found yesterday in Whitehaven to that of man missing since Saturday in Southaven, Mississippi. 25-year-old Calvin Holloway.
Family and friends said Holloway left his house Saturday morning to help a friend who was possibly stranded.
Memphis police later found Holloway’s truck at an apartment complex near Millbranch and Holmes.
The body was discovered Wednesday at Holmes and Crossfield. That’s about five miles from where investigators found Holloways’ truck, in a case without any arrests and lingering unknowns.
“When they walked in I was like no, no, no, no I don’t want to hear it,” mother Glender Holloway said.
Thursday morning, Glender Holloway was delivered the news no mother wants to receive. That her son, Calvin, was confirmed dead after days of sleepless nights and worry.
“I knew too many days had gone by and I knew the more days that went by, the less I knew I was going to see him again,” Glender Holloway said.
Holloway’s family said the 25-year-old tried helping another man in an area of Whithaven Saturday morning, even though his mom said other details of the trip remain a mystery.
“Before he left this driveway I guess he gave it a second thought because he called another friend and told him where he was going,” Glender Holloway said.
Now, after getting the worst possible news, Holloway’s family left to wonder why their son died and who was responsible.
“He didn’t hurt anybody, he minded his own business, stayed to himself,” brother Devetrius Holloway said.
“He was a good guy. Whoever did this to him, you are NOT a good guy because you don’t have feelings, and my son had feelings,” Glender Holloway said.
Holloway’s family said funeral arrangements are still pending.
