MEMPHIS, Tenn. — According to Memphis Police Department, several shots were fired on Beale Street early Sunday morning.
Officers responded to a vandalism on July 7 at 4:45 a.m., at King's Palace Cafe, at 162 Beale St.
Upon arrival, officers made the scene and discovered shots were fired in the area of B.B. King and Beale Street.
Police spoke with the victim who said she was sitting by the front window inside the building when she heard five gunshots fired in the area.
The victim told officers one bullet fragment came through the glass close by where she was sitting. The victim and a witness also showed officers the bullet hole in the wall.
The victim gave a description of a 6’0″ tall Black man wearing all-black clothes.
The victim told police she heard the suspect allegedly yell out, “I’m going to f--- some s--- up”, and then he fired shots in the area.
Police say the suspect fled the scene on foot going westbound on Beale Street towards Second Street.
The complainant told MPD she didn’t see anything, she just heard gunshots while she was sitting in her back office and called the police.
After searching the area officers and located 23 shell cases in the intersection of Second Street and Beale Street.
No injuries have been reported.
