MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Police Department (MPD) responded to a car that crashed into the side of a strip mall due to brake failure.

Officers responded to a crash at 1194 Winchester Rd just after 12 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12. The driver alleges they crashed their 2013 Chevrolet Impala after a brake malfunction.

While driving Southbound on Elvis Presley Boulevard the driver claims they lost control of the car because of brake failure. The driver turned Westbound into a gas station but the car continued to drive into the back of a strip mall.

Officers spoke with the driver and the three passengers.

The driver was taken to Methodist South in non-critical condition, says MPD. All other passengers denied the need for medical attention.

MPD had the Chevrolet Impala towed privately by choice Towing.

Officers followed up with driver and issued a citation for violations of state registration, NO driver license, financial responsibility, and striking a fixed object.

This incident was recorded on body cameras according to MPD.
