The City of Memphis says garbage pick-up is changing for the next few days as services get back on track following the recent MLK holiday and winter weather.

From the City of Memphis:

The recent winter weather and the three-day Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend have created a set of unusual circumstances for solid waste pickup that will require some delays and unique guidelines for both City of Memphis and Inland Waste customers.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Beginning Thursday (Jan. 18), we will focus on restoring GARBAGE CART services only. We’ll make every effort to provide all customers GARBAGE CART-only services by Sunday (Jan. 21).
  • We’re asking you to place your GARBAGE CART at the curb on your normal collection day and leave it there until it’s serviced.
  • RECYCLE CARTS and CURBSIDE, NON-CART TRASH will not be picked up until next week (starting Monday, Jan. 22). This includes items such as yard debris and bulk waste.

We know this is different, and we know that it’s an inconvenience. We ask for your patience and cooperation as we work as diligently as possible to restore normal solid waste collection service.
