Collierville Police Department rescues injured kayaker on Wolf River

The Collierville Police Department (CPD) received a call regarding an incident involving three people kayaking down the Wolf River on Saturday, August 3, 2024.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An injured kayaker was rescued on the Wolf River by the Collierville Police Department (CPD) on Saturday.

CPD received a call regarding an incident involving three people kayaking down the Wolf River on August 3, 2024.

Upon reaching the area of Johnson Park on the Wolf River, one of the kayakers called 911 reporting that a member of their group was injured and lost, says CPD.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office was immediately notified. CPD, alongside the Collierville Fire Department (CFD), promptly responded to the scene. Germantown Police Department (GPD) and Germantown Fire Department (GFD) also responded, offering their assistance. 

The CPD Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Unit was also dispatched for aerial support. 

The CFD and the CPD UAS Unit successfully located the injured person who was then transported by CFS for further treatment. 

According to CPD the search operation lasted about 30 minutes.
