MEMPHIS, Tenn — The second victim of a domestic shooting in Collierville has now died, according to Collierville police, and the man accused of shooting him is now charged with his murder.
In September, Collierville Police Department (CPD) identified the suspect and victims in the deadly shooting that left a woman dead and a man injured.
Collierville police said Eric Otten of Olive Branch, Mississippi, is accused of shooting and killing his estranged wife Jenni Otten and injuring Mark Cross, who police say has now also died. Investigators said the shooting happened about 5:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023, in the area of Fulford Way, north of Carriage Crossing.
Mark Cross passed away on Friday, Nov. 17, according to CPD.
CPD said the suspect — 52-year-old Eric Otten — took off from the scene and was arrested about 4 p.m. Sunday in Jarrell, Texas. They said he is being held in the Williamson County, Texas, jail before being extradited back to Collierville to face charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
Tuesday, Collierville Police said the attempted murder charge has been upgraded to a second count of first-degree murder.
"We would like to thank the United States Marshalls, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Desoto County Sheriff’s Office, Southaven Police Department, Olive Branch Police Department, Missouri Highway Patrol, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Williamson County Texas Sheriff’s Office," said CPD.
