Domestic assault suspect dead after crashing into cars on Saturday, says CPD

The Collierville Police Department (CPD) says a man linked to a domestic assault investigation is dead after crashing into multiple cars, including a police car.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A domestic assault suspect is dead after crashing into multiple cars, including a Collierville police car, according to CPD.

CPD received a report yesterday afternoon around 4:20 p.m. about a missing relative. The missing person was identified as a victim of an aggravated assault that occurred on August 30th, leading to warrants being issued for the suspect.

Officers located the suspect in a car with the missing relative in the area of South Street and Sycamore. When the relative exited the vehicle, the suspect took the driver’s seat and crashed into a CPD patrol car with an officer inside, disabling the vehicle.

According to CPD, the suspect fled eastbound on South Street but lost control near Suggs Park, and crashed into three parked cars.

The suspect was taken to Regional One in critical condition but was pronounced dead at the hospital.

No officers or other citizens were injured during this incident, CPD reported.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has been called in to specifically investigate the crash. CPD says this incident is under investigation and information may be released at a later time.
