Deputy-involved shooting in Cordova leaves suspect non-critical

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is in custody following a deputy-involved shooting in Cordova, says the Shelby County Sheriff's Office (SCSO).

SCSO detectives responded to a call about a suspicious person in the area of Mirage Lane and Spanish Trail Lane around 1:30 a.m.

When deputies arrived, the suspect reportedly fired at them. An SCSO deputy returned fire, injuring the suspect's hand. 

The man was taken into custody and a weapon was recovered on the scene. He was taken to Regional One Health in non-critical condition. 

No deputies were injured, and an investigation is currently underway, according to SCSO.
