Drug addiction program gets federal funding to help Mid-South

The $671,000 funding comes from the annual appropriations process for target community projects, said Rep. Steve Cohen of Memphis.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Congressman Steve Cohen announced Monday he secured funding to help fight drug addiction in the Mid-South.

Rep. Cohen joined the Cocaine and Alcohol Awareness Program or (CAAP) Inc. to announce the $671,000 funding from the annual appropriations process for target community projects.

“We want to have less recidivism and crime,” said Cohen. “We want people that have alcohol problems to get treatment, get their lives back on the straight and narrow.”

The program will also provide residential and alternatives-to-incarceration efforts in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Correction.
