Dyer County High School student passes away

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — On Aug. 14, 2024, Dyer County High School officials announced a student has passed away.

According to a press release from the school, the student became unresponsive at the school and was given "immediate assistance" by staff before being taken to Dyersburg ER.

Officials said he passed away at the hospital.

"He was a cherished member of our school community, and his loss will be deeply felt by his family, our students, administration, teachers, and staff. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of this student during this difficult time."

Once funeral arrangements are made, we will communicate them to our school family and stand ready to assist the family in any way. Again, today is a very sad day, and we ask you to join us in praying for everyone involved," a statement from the school said.
