The number one-rated high school basketball player in the country will be a Memphis Tiger. East High superstar James Wiseman made the announcement Tuesday morning on ESPN’s SportsCenter.
Securing a commitment from the 7-foot center is a tremendous feather in the cap of University of Memphis Head Coach Penny Hardaway.
Wiseman picked the Tigers over a short list that included Kentucky, Florida State, Kansas, and Vanderbilt. He will join the team next season.
Tuesday evening, Wiseman is scheduled to play for East High School, alongside his teammate and future Memphis Tiger Malcolm Dandridge in their big showdown with Olive Branch at the Landers Center. He’ll face off against future Memphis Tiger DJ Jeffries.
