MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – A historic Memphis church went up in flames Sunday night, and now fire investigators say it was intentionally set.
Fire crews were called to the Eastland Presbyterian Church on Jackson Avenue around 11:40 Sunday night. When they arrived, they could see flames bursting through the building.
The fire department shared pictures of the flames. Monday, you can see where the smoke poured through windows in the brick building.
Investigators say the fire was set in the church library. It caused an estimated $20,000 in damages.
