MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Funeral services and a Sea of Blue have been announced by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office for Captain Shannon "Dale" Phillips.
The Fayette County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) announced Captain Phillips passed away on Sept. 7, 2024. Around 7 p.m., Captain Phillips was involved in a single motorcycle crash in Somerville, which resulted in his death.
Visitation for Captain Phillips will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel in Oakland. Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Somerville City Cemetery.
A Sea of Blue in honor of Captain Phillips will follow visitation about 8 p.m. Wednesday night. The route will be east from Peebles West Chapel, turning south on S Main St at the Courthouse, circling through Buckley Elementary School and returning north on S Main to Highway 64, then back east on Hwy 64 to the bypass. It will end at the CJC at Captain’s truck.
Captain Phillips dedicated over 25 years of service to the citizens of Fayette County. He held various positions throughout the FCSO and was most recently assigned as Captain of the Uniformed Patrol Division.
Captain Phillips is survived by his parents, siblings and two sons.
