A former captain from the Shelby County Sheriff’s fugitive division has been indicted on several charges, including coercion of witnesses and official misconduct. The Shelby County District Attorney say the charges are related to a criminal charge against Monica Johnson’s son.
Johnson, 44, was also indicted on charges of official oppression, filing a false offense report, accessory after the fact and conspiracy to commit coercion of a witness. She is free on $20,000 bond.
Her son, Nehemiah Rimmer, 29, was indicted in October 2015 on charges of rape of a child. That case is pending in Criminal Court.
In February of this year, Rimmer was indicted on charges of conspiracy to commit coercion of a witness involving his alleged activities with his mother. He is being held on bonds totaling $260,000.
Johnson’s mother, Nancy Robinson, 65, was also indicted on one count of conspiracy to commit coercion of a witness.
Investigators said Johnson accessed a law enforcement-only data base several times in October and November 2015, in connection with the case against her son. They say she also questioned the alleged 5-year-old female victim and the girl’s grandmother about the case. They say she threatened to arrest the grandmother.
