Four Memphis Police officers decertified as law enforcement in Tennessee

Six former MPD officers faced decertification on Feb. 15, 2024.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — On Thursday, a state board decertified four former Memphis police officers, meaning they can never work as law enforcement in Tennessee again.

Six former MPD officers faced decertification. The body known as the POST Commission voted to decertify Aaron Davis, Jeremy Dodson, Delvon Green and Demetrius Walker. However, Memphis Police reversed course and withdrew its decertification request for Officer Colin Berryhill, who is now employed by Southaven Police.

The decertification ruling was held off for the sixth officer, Adrian Blakes, who was fired for his involvement in the Tyre Nichols case.

Officers can be decertified by POST for violating policy, being convicted of a crime, or entering a plea deal. Last year, 23 law enforcement officers from Shelby County were decertified.
