Eight charged after MPD says crack, ecstasy and stolen car found during gang unit arrest

Eight people have been arrested and charged by Memphis police after they said complaints in the Orange Mound area lead to a search that yielded illegal drugs and a stolen car. 

The Memphis Police Department (MPD) said that back in September, complaints were shared with police regarding drug activity, gang activity, and people brandishing large rifles as well as handguns at 778 Hamilton Street.

Neighbors reportedly told police they feared for their safety and after a month-long investigation, police said probable caused was developed to receive a search warrant.

Police said that on Oct. 26 the search warrant was executed and five handguns — including one that had been fitted with a "machine gun conversion device" — were found. An AR-15 style rifle, ammunition rounds of various calibers, cell phones, scales and marijuana, ecstasy as well as crack cocaine was also found at the residence, according to MPD.

A Dodge Challenger that was stolen in Memphis in August was found in the front yard, according to MPD. Four men and three women were then detained, according to MPD.

Anthony Taylor, 27, was charged with convicted felon possession of a firearm as well as three counts of possession of a firearm as a dangerous felony, according to MPD. 

Taylor also had outstanding warrants for robbery, according to MPD, including act-in concert, aggravated burglary, possession of a firearm. He also had commission of felony, possession of a controlled substance with intent - marijuana, unlawful possession of weapon, contempt of juvenile court and petition to revoke a suspended sentence, according to MPD. 

Damalique Woody, 24, was charged with convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm with the intent to commit a dangerous felony, theft of property from $10,000 to $60,000 (vehicle), possession of a controlled substance with intent - crack cocaine and possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, according to MPD. MPD said he also had a warrant for paternity.

Quinton Walker, 29, was charged with convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon - machine gun and possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, according to MPD. 

Mario Collier, 24, was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, possession of a controlled substance with intent - ecstasy, possession of a controlled substance with intent - marijuana and two charges of unlawful possession with a weapon, according to MPD. 

Veronica Fason, 43, was charged with convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, possession of a controlled substance with intent - ecstasy and possession of a controlled substance with intent - marijuana. 

Rickeyea Harper, 19, was charged twice with possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, according to MPD. He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent - marijuana and unlawful possession of a weapon, according to MPD. 

Chaquita Mosley, 44, was charged three times with possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, according to MPD. She was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent - ecstasy, possession of a controlled substance with intent - marijuana and three counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, according to MPD. 

Rodrick Mitchell, 22, was arrested in the nearby area, according to MPD. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent - marijuana and possession of a controlled substance with intent - oxycodone. He had a warrant for criminal attempt robbery, according to MPD.
