Zach Randolph’s departure from the Memphis Grizzlies leaves the team with more than a void on the court.
ZBo also showed kindness off the court, helping less fortunate Memphians at events year round and donating money out of his pocket.
“Him going to Sacramento, it’s a huge blow,” Memphis Grizzlies fan Charles James said.
Much of Grizz Nation mourned Tuesday afternoon, after learning Zach Randolph, a key contributor from seven straight Memphis Grizzlies playoff appearances would be leaving Memphis for the Sacramento Kings.
“Everyone is going to give their blessing to Zbo, but it’s kind of that sad moment for Memphis in all,” Memphis Grizzlies fan Claire James said.
Along with two all-star game appearances, ZBo made as much of a name for himself in the Memphis community, including a $20,000 donation to MIFA in January, giving out holiday baskets to those in need and showing off his trademark joy during his annual gift giveaway.
“He was great for the community; he was always great to see around town, it really felt like he gave back, so it will be sad to see him go,” Memphis Grizzlies fan Nick Regenold said.
Memphis Grizzlies fans hope Randolph will one day get his jersey retired at FedExForum.
