MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Wednesday is Juneteenth, a holiday celebrating the end of slavery in the United States. While planning your day, here are a few things to keep in mind.
The City of Memphis said garbage collectors will not pick up residents' trash June 19 to observe the holiday. Instead, trash will be collected Thursday. Those serviced by Team Waste will not be affected by the holiday.
The city is also reminding Memphians that the following places will be closed Wednesday:
All Memphis Public Libraries locations
City pools
Community centers
Senior centers
All Memphis Parks community, senior, and aquatic centers
Memphis Parks' Play Your Park program will also not happen
More information about what's closed or open on Juneteenth is available HERE.
