Woman dead, multiple injured after house fire in Castalia Heights

The fire broke out on Clovia Lane, near Castalia Street and South Parkway East.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman is dead and multiple people are hurt after a house fire broke out Tuesday morning in Castalia Heights.

The Memphis Fire Department (MFD) responded to the fire June 4, 2024, around 10:30 a.m. on Clovia Lane near Castalia Street and South Parkway East, where there were reports that multiple people were trapped inside a home.

According to MFD, crews saw heavy fire when they arrived, and the fire spread to two other homes. One person was found dead outside, and three others were taken to a hospital. All four people were related and inside the home originally on fire.

The house was completely lost to the fire, MFD said. The Memphis Police Department conducted traffic control in the area. No fire fighters were injured.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, but witnesses told ABC24 they heard an explosion.
