Furniture store IKEA has announced when it plans to open the doors to its Memphis location. The store will officially open on December 14 at 9:00 a.m. Customers can begin lining up two days before opening day.
The IKEA location in Memphis will be the Swedish retailer’s first location in Tennessee.
The 271,000 square-foot future IKEA Memphis store, including approximately 800 parking spaces, is being built on 35 acres in the Wolfchase Corridor along the southwestern side of Interstate-40, near the Germantown Parkway exit.
IKEA Memphis will feature nearly 10,000 exclusively designed items, 50 inspirational room-settings, three model home interiors, a supervised children’s play area, and a 250-seat restaurant serving Swedish specialties such as meatballs with lingonberries and salmon plates, as well as American dishes and more sustainable options. Other family-friendly features include a ‘Children’s IKEA’ area in the Showroom, baby care rooms, play areas throughout the store and preferred parking.
In addition to the more than 500 jobs created from construction, approximately 225 coworkers will have joined the IKEA Memphis family when the new store opens.
