Inmate that escaped Carroll County Regional Correctional Facility caught in Oxford

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was caught by the Oxford Police Department (OPD) and is back in custody after escaping from the Carroll County Regional Correctional Facility.

OPD responded to a call on Highway 6 East near the city limits of Oxford, to help find a fugitive. 

An officer, parked on Highway 6, spotted a car that matched the suspect's description and made a traffic stop.

The suspect, Ryan Burks, 39, was arrested on charges of felony fleeing in a motor vehicle and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. 

Burks has been transferred to the Carroll County Sheriff's Department, where he is expected to face additional charges.
