LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — An investigation is underway after officials confirmed that shots were fired at Park Plaza Mall in Little Rock.
According to preliminary reports, two people who knew each other exchanged gunshots at each other.
Authorities stated that the incident took place at 1:44 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29, 2024.
Little Rock police responded and arrived at Park Plaza Mall where they found 2 people had been shot during the incident. Authorities said that the victims were suffering from what appears to be "non-life threatening injuries" at the moment.
Police are currently at the scene and stated that this was not an active shooter situation. The mall is currently being evacuated and people are safe to leave.
Following the shooting, Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr. released a statement where he thanked Little Rock police for their response to the shooting.
"Gun violence in any form or at any time is unacceptable. Today’s shooting at Park Plaza Mall recklessly put lives at risk. My thanks to the and first responders who helped protect our residents and guests," Mayor Scott said.
In addition to the mayor, Park Plaza Mall also released a statement following Friday's shooting:
"Our hearts go out to the individuals affected in this incident, along with their loved ones. The safety and wellbeing of our guests and the community remains our top priority, and we are fully cooperating with law enforcement in their ongoing investigation,” Park Plaza Mall said in a statement.
There's currently no information on potential suspects or any further information on the victims.
