MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Junior Achievement (JA) of Memphis and the Mid-South is holding its Inspire career expo on May 14-16 at the Agricenter.
The event is for eighth graders to be introduced to vast industries and career opportunities available in the region and train students in the soft skills needed to thrive in these careers.
"We're intentional about hands-on experiences. We believe our students learn by doing," said Deonna Williams, the manager of education programs for JA of Memphis and the Mid-South.
Exhibitors will have hands-on activities for children to participate in to understand exactly what a career entails.
"It's not just about an adult saying, 'You can become this,' but students can imagine themselves in that role," Williams said.
This year, event organizers have closed registration for exhibitors, but Williams said they are welcoming those interested in becoming one to preview the event to potentially be involved next year.
Additionally, they are still looking for volunteers. You can apply to become one here.
The event will take place at the Agricenter in Memphis (7777 Walnut Grove Rd.) from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. You can learn more about the event on their website.
