CROCKETT COUNTY, Tenn. — Multiple agencies responded to a reported large fire in Crockett County, Tennessee, the Crockett County Sheriff's Office said Thursday.
According to the Sheriff's Department, all Crockett County fire departments and firefighters from surrounding counties responded to a large fire on Simmons Road near Highway 79.
Two hours later, the Sheriff's Department said the fire was finally contained, and a more thorough release would be made soon.
Hours earlier, the Crockett County Sheriff's Department issued a burn advisory for the area, warning people to not burn anything outside Thursday due to extremely dry and windy conditions.
The Sheriff's Department said residents in the area can help by extinguishing any existing fires and not lighting any more fires.
Avoid the area for now.
