City renames library after fallen Memphis Police officer

Officer Redd served with Memphis Police since 2008. He was 49 years old.

MEMPHIS, Tenn — Officer Geoffrey Redd was shot and killed at the Poplar-White Station Library in Feb. 2023. Wednesday, that library was renamed in his honor.

City of Memphis officials unveiled a new sign, officially renaming the Poplar-White Station Library to the "Officer Geoffrey Redd Library." 

Officer Redd was shot and killed in the line of duty while responding to a trespassing complaint at the library last February. Those in attendance of the ceremony included MPD Chief CJ Davis and Redd's family, who described him as "a man of God."

Officer Redd served with Memphis Police since 2008. He was 49 years old.
