If you like to pamper yourself during bath time, this is the story for you. We’re taking you behind the scenes of a local soap shop here in the bluff city called Buff City.
The bomb squad is in place… the bath bomb squad that is. From pink soap and orange, to purple and blues, even soap with swirls. There’s oatmeal and honey shower oils, shower fizzies, bath salts, and body butters too.
“We can customize anything really, ah, to your scent preference, your color preference, anything like that,” says Nick Kenkel, Buff City Soaps COO. “We’re like a soap shop in a bakery put together… And the cool thing about it is we make it right in front of you.”
Talk about being on a soapbox! Seriously the owners of Buff City Soaps say they sort of got worked up into a lather after learning about some ingredients in soap products, and decided to branch out on their own to create unique soap products that are animal product free and made in Memphis.
They started in Bartlett and Covington, have branched out to Cooper-Young, and plan on opening a third location in Germantown.
“We want to be at the top of the spear as far as making Memphis, ah, putting Memphis back on the map,” says Kenkel.
And they’re doing it one soap sud at a time. It’s local good news.
