“I’m hoping that it’ll make a huge difference with something that I’m giving them,” said Eric Kemp, the vice president of the Nu Eta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. “I’m giving them books, I’m teaching them how to tie ties, teaching them how to change tires on cars, teaching them entrepreneurship, leadership, social justice, how to interact with the police as a black man. That is something that is very important to me, and I hope these young men can take this information and then carry it on in their life.”
AMPED serves to promote education and leadership development.
The program also provides service and aid to young African-American men in the Mid-South.
