(TBI NEWS RELEASE) – An investigation by Special Agents withthe Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Brownsville Police Department hasresulted in the arrest of a Brownsville teenager in connection to a deadlyDecember shooting in Brownsville in which a pregnant woman and her unborn childwere fatally wounded and two others, including a child, were injured.
On December 1st, at the request of 28thDistrict Attorney General Garry Brown, TBI Agents joined officers with theBrownsville Police Department in investigating the shooting at a home in the1000 block of Tammbell Street. Alexis Branch (DOB: 3/27/95), who waseight-months pregnant, was pronounced dead at the scene along with her unbornbaby. Her 8-year-old daughter was critically wounded and has sufferedparalysis over much of her body. An additional adult family membersuffered non-life threatening injuries.
During the course of the investigation, Agents determinedJamal Voss (DOB: 8/14/02) as the person responsible. On December 27th,Agents secured warrants for Voss’ arrest in connection to the shooting. Thursday, Voss was apprehended in Memphis by the Gulf Coast Regional FugitiveTask Force – US Marshal Service. Also Thursday, he appeared forarraignment and a detention hearing before Haywood County Juvenile Court JudgeRoland Reid who ordered Voss be held without bond. Voss is charged withtwo counts of First Degree Murder and two counts of Attempted First DegreeMurder.
