MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com)- A local nail salon owner decided to spend her time outside of the salon to give back to students at one Mid-South school.
Kelah Carter, owner of the Nail Lounge in East Memphis, has been collecting winter coats, hats, and gloves inside of her shop.
On Monday, she delivered more than 100 items to the young students at Winchester Elementary in Whitehaven.
Carter says she started the coat drive because she saw a need in the community.
“I have clients that teach, and they tell me all the time how kids come to school without coats. They come to school with t-shirts,” said Carter. “So I felt the need to give back if I could.”
This is the second year for her winter coat drive.
