Man left injured following truck accident, according to MPD

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is injured after being hit by a truck on Friday night, Oct. 4, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).

Officers responded to a report of a man being hit by a car at the intersection of Union Avenue and Raine Place just before 8 p.m. On the scene, they found a man lying in the middle lane of eastbound traffic on Union Avenue in critical condition. 

The driver of the truck, identified as a General Motors C15, stated that they were traveling westbound on Union Avenue when the man walked into oncoming traffic. The truck hit the man, prompting immediate emergency response. 

The Memphis Fire Department (MFD) took the injured man to Regional One Health for treatment. Although the man was initially reported to be in critical condition, it was later confirmed that he was upgraded to non-critical. 

According to an officer at the scene, the Traffic Investigations Section was notified but did not respond to the incident or the hospital. 

The truck involved in the accident was towed by Macy Towing to a designated location. MPD reports that the incident remains under investigation as they continue to gather more information.
