A man with "a history of assaults" has been charged by Memphis authorities for aggravated rape, aggravated kidnapping and aggravating assault, according to court documents from the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.
Quinton Burnett, 28, faces these charges for offenses that are stated as taking place in a neighborhood west of the Memphis International Airport on Saturday, March 9.
Memphis Police officers said they responded to a fight call on Hudgins Road after an anonymous caller told them they heard a woman screaming and being strangled by a man, according to an affidavit.
When officers arrived, they said they saw a man running away from a woman. This woman said she was walking home from work when a man grabbed her, forced her into the woods and held her against her will, according to the affidavit.
She told police that he physically assaulted her and then sexually assaulted her, according to the affidavit.
Police were able to find Burnett and detain him, according to the affidavit.
The woman was taken to an area hospital for medical treatment and went to Rape Crisis to have a sexual assault exam and kit completed, according to the affidavit.
Quinton Burnett was taken to the felony response bureau where he was charged with aggravated rape, aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault, according to the affidavit.
A search warrant for his DNA was obtained for further investigation, according to the affidavit.
