MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police Department (MPD) has confirmed to ABC24 that a worker has died in an accident at the FedEx World Hub in Memphis after a work injury on Wednesday.
According to police, officers responded to an accidental death at the FedEx World Hub on 2903 Sprankel Avenue around 11:30 p.m. An employee was injured while working, and they were taken in critical condition to Regional One, where they later died, police said.
In a statement, FedEx said, “We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends who are mourning their loved one. Safety is our highest priority and we are investigating the circumstances of this accident.”
The Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration (TOSHA) said it sent an investigator to determine the circumstances around the death. The agency said the investigator will survey the location, review company records and procedures, and conduct interviews. A TOSHA fatality investigation can take between eight and ten weeks to complete.
Once the investigation is final, the report will be made public, said TOSHA.
