This was the scene in front of 100 North Main smoke coming out of the 34th floor. Luckily this man saw the fire from across the street and called 911.

The Local I- Team has followed problems at the building for years. Its’ owners are in environmental court because of safety concerns.
Last August fire inspectors said the building faced major safety issues, the elevator doesn’t work, and a fence surrounds the building because of falling concrete.
In January more than one million gallons of water mysteriously leaked into the basement.
Right now there is no working electric in the building. No working fire alarm system .
Someone entered the building breaking out more than 75 windows.
Because of the recent issues 24 hour security was hired.
In court, month after month a lawyer representing the owner has told Judge Larry Potter repairs will be made though it hasn’t happened
The building catching fire has been a concern for Judge Potter for some time because of the building’s condition Potter has said it could put firefighters lives in dangers.
Luckily, in this case, the fire was reported while it was still small and it was quickly extinguished..
Lt Wayne Cooke, with Memphis Fire Department, said, “Firefighter safety is always a concern and also a concerns there could be vagrants or citizens in the building.”
The owners of the 100 North Main are due back in court in two weeks, but the Local I-Team was told because of this fire that date may be moved up.
