MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis in May board of directors voted on Jan. 25, 2024, to name Mack Weaver as the permanent president & CEO of Memphis in May International Festival.

Weaver will assume his new role beginning Feb. 1, 2024, following the retirement of former President & CEO Jim Holt on Jan. 31, according to a press release from Memphis in May.

Weaver has been with Memphis in May for over 25 years, most recently as the executive vice president & CFO.

“We’re fortunate to have the right person already on staff to step into the role of President,” said Al Gossett, 2024 Board Chair. "Mack’s intimate knowledge of the organization and extensive experience producing large-scale events makes him ideal for the position and we’re confident in his leadership because we’ve already seen him in action for 25 years.”

Weaver is a lifelong Memphian and was a Memphis Business Journal “Top 40 under 40” honoree in 2002, a two-time CFO of the Year finalist and a graduate of the 2006 Leadership Memphis class.

Dedicating his time and leadership to the Memphis community, Weaver has served on the Board of Directors at several local organizations, including the Hattlioo Theatre, where he served as treasurer, Memphis Tourism and the Memphis Rock-N-Soul Museum, where he served as board chairman from 2022 to 2023. Weaver is board chairman of the Greater Community Temple Deacon Board and has been an active member since 1998.

“Mack Weaver has been serving from a place of excellence for quite some time, though I’ve watched his corporate leadership and business savvy from afar.” Said Bishop Brandon B. Porter, Sr, COGIC General Board Member, “For over 25 years, he has served as the chairman of our deacon’s board at Greater Community Temple COGIC, where I have seen his incredible gifts up close. This leadership role has shown his integrity and balance both with God and man.”

“I look forward to guiding the festival into the next chapter,” said Mack Weaver, “We are in good shape financially, have a respected and world-renowned brand, experienced team and dedicated volunteers. We are going to do what we do best, just as we have for the past 46 years.”
